The Shelbourne Stud is built on a 15 acre site in Tipperary, Ireland and is one of the few purpose built Greyhound Studs.
Work started from scratch in 2000 and was finished by the beginning of 2002. The first puppy born there was from a one pup litter, and this dog — Shelbourne Star — went on to win Sky dog of the year and over half her 40 races.
Since then the stud has been blessed with a constant stream of top greyhounds winning the Irish Deby, The Oaks, Waterford Masters, Irish St. Leger and a unprecedented three Champion Stakes.
Shelbourne Stud is non profit making, a hobby for John Marks and Brian King.
“A huge crowd witnessed one of the most remarkable greyhound performances of all time as Shelbourne Aston turned certain defeat into astonishing victory in the final of the €305,000 paddypower.com Irish Derby at Shelbourne Park at the weekend ”.
